So we’ve been making some moving videos lately…
Why are we making moving videos? A lot of things have changed with online advertising and finding customers since we started 13 years ago. The big game changer for us was review sites. We did a great job, got some great reviews early on and where able to grow quickly during the 2007 economic downturn. At the same time bigger older companies where declining. But since then online reviews have changed. So many of our competitors now use fake reviews to bump up their ratings, so they get as much of the market as ourselves and other honest companies that just have good reviews.
I was recently meeting with Chris Amaral of Safe Responsible Movers and we talked about this very subject (much has been made of this, find articles here, here, here, and here). It’s a real shame as I think online reviews where great for consumers and I really enjoyed working hard to maintain a good reputation. It’s our intention to get the message back out there using some new moving videos we’ve been making.
How can you tell if a moving company is any good by looking on the internet?
So at our recent company meeting this brought up the issue of how do you really show customers how good you are? We asked our selves “What can’t be faked?” We came up with moving videos. You can’t fake a video of a really great truck pack. You especially can’t fake a whole bunch of moving videos. It’s one thing for a crappy company to whip up a couple decent pictures, one or two good looking videos or a million fake reviews. It’s another thing to manufacture good time-lapse moving videos of truck packs. So that’s what we’ve been doing.
We’re also working on other videos. We’ll be making some showing good wrapping, carrying and moving skills. It’s also our intention to produce our own version of the ubiquitous “how to pack XY,Z” videos. It’ll be nice for our customers to have access to this information, but also we think we’ll bring some fresh perspective, clear explanation and some of our own moves to the table. We know there’s already a lot of those out there on the internet but most of them are terrible anyway. It’s time to show ’em how it’s done.
Oops, the customers learned some really good info about moving!
The great side effect of this plan is that customers actually can learn a lot about moving. Watching videos about moving is probably the best way to become an informed customer about the nuts & bolts of a product that’s very hard to evaluate. We’ll show them how things are wrapped and loaded which helps when packing your goods and preparing. I think most consumers don’t feel they know enough about moving to make a good choice. I’ll be happy to help them make that good choice!
So where do I find these awesome videos?
