Storage

We offer vaulted storage at our storage facilities in Arlington and Hudson Massachusetts. Each wooden vault contains 245 cubic feet of goods and is 7.5 feet tall, 7 feet long and 5 feet wide. A vault typically holds about one room’s worth of goods. Apartments usually take 2-4 vaults and single family homes 4-8. Once we have a list of your goods we can estimate how many vaults we’d need.

Vaulted storage is the most convenient and secure method for storing your goods. Your furniture is blanket wrapped in your home, inventoried and then brought back to our warehouse and packed into vaults. Vaulted storage also means that the liability coverage you can elect covers your goods while in storage. That means your goods are covered from when they leave your sight, until you’re reunited.

We are licensed, and bonded with the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety.

Uses and Types

Below we enumerate some used and types for our kind of warehousing so you can get an idea of what’s a good fit for you and your plans.

Short Term Storage

There are many circumstances where our type of warehousing is helpful in the short term. Moving company storage is helpful when you want minimum hassle and maximum service. Here’s a few sample circumstances that our customers have used us for:

  • clearing rooms for floor refinishing
  • de-cluttering for staging (and selling your home)
  • if you’re in between homes and staying in a rental (store the excess goods)
  • seasonal storage
  • seasonal business storage
  • storage during a renovation

Long Term Storage

We also offer long-term storage. Our facility’s climate, temperature and context are predictable and good for the long term. We own our building so we won’t be switching locations and taking your goods on any un-anticipated trips. Our warehouse is a great place to leave things worry free in the long term and we have many great long-term customers stored right now. Here’s a few examples of their needs:

  • they’ve rented out a home long-term and are storing the furnishings
  • excess goods while they shop for a second home
  • long term renovations/construction
  • storing a deceased family member’s goods until time/emotions allow distribution
  • overseas travel requiring storage of household goods

Storage for construction projects

Storage for construction is a real common use and it runs the gamut from simple floor-refinishing to complete demolition and construction of a new home. We’ve had customers who have left their home of 20+ years to have it demolished and rebuilt. They spent 3 years living in a nearby rental with a subset of their goods, and stored the remainder of their belongings with us for 3 years. It was approximately 10 vaults and some oversized items. When construction was complete we delivered some of the items to their children at various locations, some goods to a restoration shop and the rest back to their newly built home. Using vaulted moving company storage really reduces the complexity of the operation relative to self-storage, especially when there’s already enough to deal with.

Having your goods in our storage during an already stressful and complicated project is a much needed bit of relief, and it’s also cheaper than self-storage once you factor in the labor and materials of wrapping goods and liability coverage.

Storage for rentals

If you have a furnished apartment or house that you’re renting out, we’re a good solution for storing excess furniture, or if the tenant wants to use their own we can store it all. We can deliver the goods or pick them up with minimum involvement from the customer (condition inspections and paperwork for the most part), no need to be present at the storage portion. This can be a real time saver in these circumstances.

When to use Vaulted storage vs when to use a self storage

Vaulted storage isn’t always the right answer, and neither is self storage. Here’s some guidelines:

Self storage is good if:

  • you will need regular access to the goods
  • you want to sort through the items
  • you want to unpack and repack boxes on-site
  • you want more of a DIY scheme
  • if liability coverage isn’t important

Vaulted storage is good if:

  • you won’t need regular access
  • you just want to make the goods disappear, and them make them reappear with minimum fuss
  • you’re busy and want help
  • you need contiguous liability coverage until you get your goods back
  • you’re moving across state lines after the move
